Position Summary
The Communications Coordinator will bring Crafting the Future’s mission to life through a digital-first communications strategy. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and a diverse collection of other stakeholders to manage CTF’s digital presence, donor communications, and storytelling efforts, crafting content that uplifts our community and keeps supporters engaged. You’ll strategize, create, and post engaging content, keep our website and email communications current, and shape how we share our story with the world.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Content Creation
- Manage and grow Crafting the Future’s social media presence across platforms.
- Develop and execute a monthly content calendar aligned with organizational goals.
- Draft and design engaging posts and stories that reflect our values and amplify community voices.
- Monitor analytics and audience engagement to guide strategy.
Email & Web Communications
- Check info@craftingthefuture.org email daily; reply to or forward messages as appropriate.
- Write and schedule monthly newsletters and donor email campaigns.
- Maintain and update website content using Squarespace CMS.
- Support campaign landing pages and fundraising communications.
- Update the online merch store and fulfill orders.
Storytelling & Design
- Gather stories about residencies, internships, grants, scholarships, fundraisers, and opportunities from program participants, grantees, partners, and colleagues to share and highlight impact.
- Assist with design of marketing materials, annual reports, and print collateral.
- Create branded templates for digital and print communications.
Development Support
- Partner with the Director of Development to support donor stewardship communications.
- Help coordinate communications for fundraising campaigns, grant reporting, and events.
- Maintain an organized archive of photos, stories, and media assets.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 2+ years of experience in communications, marketing, development, or related fields or equivalent education (associate’s degree or higher).
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong sense of voice and tone.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and strategy.
- Familiarity with and an eye for graphic design; familiarity with Canva or similar design tools.
- Commitment to racial equity, inclusivity, and accessible storytelling.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with Squarespace or similar website platforms.
- Experience in the arts or nonprofit sectors.
- Comfort with basic video editing for social content.
- Excellent graphic design skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
